✦ IMDELLTRA: The Second BiTENarrow moat
Amgen (AMGN) — the future bets
IMDELLTRA grew 115% in the second quarter of 2026 and shows that BLINCYTO's platform can produce a second successful drug.
IMDELLTRA is the bet that has already begun to pay. It is an anti-DLL3 x anti-CD3 BiTE molecule for small cell lung cancer1, built on the same platform as BLINCYTO. It sold $115 million in 2024 and $627 million in 2025, its first full year2. In the first quarter of 2026 it sold $258 million3 and in the second $288 million, up 115%, primarily driven by volume growth4.
The sales are mostly American, $233 million of the $288 million in the second quarter5, which leaves room to grow abroad as approvals follow.
IMDELLTRA matters because it is the proof that BLINCYTO was not a one-off. A research platform that produces two successful drugs in different cancers is more valuable than a single product, because it suggests a third. It also carries a long patent, to August 2036 in the United States6, longer than most of Amgen's growth drugs.
It is also the drug most likely to replace part of what Amgen is losing. At its second-quarter run rate IMDELLTRA would sell about $1.15 billion a year7, already more than a sixth of what Prolia and XGEVA sold in 20258.
The number to follow is its quarterly sales growth as the base rises. Growth above 50% through 2027 would make IMDELLTRA a multi-billion-dollar drug before the decade ends; a sharp slowdown once today's eligible patients are treated would leave it a useful but modest product.
Up 115% in Q2 2026.
Its scale against the denosumab loss; a stall would leave the replacement to unapproved drugs.
