⚠ Receivables Growing Faster Than SalesModerate threat

KLA (KLAC) — threat to the moat

Receivables rose 27.6% in a year when revenue grew 11.7%, and KLA more than doubled the receivables it factored.

In fiscal 2026 KLA's customers paid more slowly than the terms suggest. Accounts receivable rose to $2,889.2 million from $2,263.9 million1, up 27.6%, while revenue grew 11.7%2. In the June quarter alone receivables absorbed $586.5 million of cash3.

Operating cash flow as a share of net income (%)120FY2024100FY202586FY2026KLA Form 10-K FY2026, cash flow statement and income statement
From 120% to 86% in two years.

KLA also factored more of its receivables. The amount factored was $515.5 million in fiscal 2026, against $230.6 million a year earlier4.

The effect shows in cash. Operating cash flow was $4,143.1 million against net income of $4,830.8 million5, about 86%6, down from about 100% in fiscal 2025.

The June quarter was the heaviest. Receivables took $586.5 million of cash in the three months to June 2026, and inventories another $212.3 million7. Operating cash flow for the quarter was $906.4 million and free cash flow $817.1 million8, below the quarter's net income of $1,363.1 million9.

Measured in days, customers took longer. Receivables equalled about 78 days of revenue at June 2026, against about 68 days a year earlier10. Ten more days of credit on $13.6 billion of annual sales is roughly $370 million of cash still to be collected11.

Part of the June quarter's receivables build was offset by customers paying ahead: deferred system revenue rose $312.1 million in the same three months12.

None of this is alarming in a growth year, when record shipments at the end of a quarter leave bills unpaid at the year end. It becomes a problem if it persists. Operating cash flow below 85% of net income for a second year would say the terms had loosened.
