A Services Target of Thirteen to Fifteen PercentNarrow moat

KLA (KLAC) — moat facet

KLA targets 13% to 15% annual service growth to 2030, and service has compounded at 15.0% a year since 2019.

KLA has put a number on how fast it expects the installed base to pay. On the third-quarter fiscal 2026 call management gave a "services revenue CAGR growth model of approximately 13% to 15%" through 2030, inside an overall revenue objective raised to 13% to 17% a year1.

Above 13% in five of seven years.

The target is modest against the record. Service revenue grew from $1,176.7 million in fiscal 2019 to $3,125.9 million in fiscal 202623, a compound 15.0% a year4, at the top of the new range. In fiscal 2026 it grew 16%5.

That makes service the most predictable part of the model. Product revenue depends on how many fabs customers build; service depends mainly on how many KLA tools are already running, which only rises in the short run.

The model rests on an assumed wafer fab equipment market of $215 billion, plus or minus $20 billion, by 20306, but service growth depends less on that than anything else KLA sells.

The overall revenue objective of 13% to 17% rests on KLA's view that its share of equipment spending keeps rising. The model assumes semiconductor industry growth of 11% a year from 2025 to 20307; service at 13% to 15% would outgrow the industry it serves, which is what a growing installed base should do.

The latest quarter ran above the range. Service revenue was $820.4 million in the June 2026 quarter against $702.6 million a year earlier8, up 16.8%9. A single quarter proves little, but it shows the target was set below the current pace rather than above it.

Hitting the range while products grow faster would shrink service's weight. At 23.0% of fiscal 2026 revenue10, service would slip toward a fifth of the company within four years if products grew at the top of the 13% to 17% objective and service at the bottom of its own range1112.

The target is testable every year. Service growth below 13% in a year when the installed base was still growing would mean either lower prices or customers servicing more of the fleet themselves.

Moat trajectory: Holding steady

15.0% a year FY2019-FY2026, at the top of the target.
