The Revenue LinesWide moat

Verizon (VZ) — moat facet

Verizon's two segments reconcile to its revenue with Corporate and other added; Consumer earns 92% of the segment profit and Business a twelfth.

Verizon reports two segments, and one of them is almost the whole company. In 2025 Consumer revenue was $106,807 million and Business revenue $29,069 million, total reportable segment revenue $135,876 million1. These are the two bands of this company's chart, for 2023 to 2025, from the segment note of the 2025 10-K2.

Verizon segment revenue, 2025 ($M)Consumer 106,807 — 79%Business 29,069 — 21%Verizon Form 10-K FY2025, segment note; excludes Corporate and other $2,642M and eliminations
Consumer is more than three-quarters of segment revenue.

The bands reconcile to consolidated revenue once Corporate and other is added and intersegment sales are eliminated. Corporate and other revenue was $2,642 million in 2025, $2,609 million in 2024 and $2,479 million in 2023, and eliminations were $327 million, $256 million and $253 million3, giving consolidated revenue of $138,191 million, $134,788 million and $133,974 million4. Corporate and other "primarily includes device insurance programs, investments in unconsolidated businesses and development stage businesses" as well as unallocated costs and the historical results of divested businesses5; it is not given a page of its own.

Segment results exclude special items. In 2023 those included a $5,841 million goodwill impairment of the Business Group6.

The presentation changed twice in 2026. From the first quarter, revenue is shown as mobility and broadband service, wireless equipment and other, with 2025 recast7. From the second quarter, the international wireline business moved out of Business into Corporate and other, lowering Business revenue by about $302 million a quarter8910. The chart keeps the 2025 10-K basis.

The two lines earn very differently. Consumer's operating income was $29,628 million and Business's $2,532 million in 202511, so Consumer earned 92.1% of the total12. Consumer grew 5.1% from 2023 to 2025 and Business shrank 3.5%13.

The recast 2025 figures show how the new presentation divides the company. Consumer's mobility and broadband service revenue was $18,801 million in the first quarter of 2025 and $19,024 million in the fourth, $75,923 million for the year14; Business's was $14,940 million15. Wireless equipment revenue, which the company sells at about cost or below, is shown separately from 2026, which makes it easier to see how much of the top line is phones changing hands rather than service.

If Consumer's share of segment operating income falls below 88%, it will be because Business is recovering, as the June 2026 quarter's 89.0% hints16, or because Consumer is weakening; the revenue lines on the next two pages say which.

Moat trajectory: Holding steady

Consumer 92.1% of segment operating income in 2025, 89.0% in Q2 2026.

The number that tests this moat

Consumer share of segment operating income, latest quarter
89.0% (Q2 2026: $8,032M of $9,023M), from 91.3% a year earlier; 92.1% for 2025

How concentrated the profit is; below 88% would mean Business is recovering or Consumer weakening.
