International CommercialThin moat
Palantir Technologies (PLTR) — moat facet
Palantir's international commercial business grew 2.5% in 2025 while its American one doubled, which is the clearest evidence that its advantage has not yet travelled.
International commercial is the line that tests whether Palantir's advantage travels, and so far it mostly has not. It was about $608.2 million in 2025, about 14% of revenue1, and about $182 million in the second quarter of 2026, up 26%2.
Inside it are companies headquartered outside the United States buying Foundry and AIP, with revenue assigned by "agency location at the time of sale" or customer headquarters3. Palantir does not publish this line; it is the commercial segment's revenue less US commercial revenue4.
The history is of a line that was once the larger half of the commercial business. In 2021 international commercial revenue was about $443.6 million against about $201.0 million in the United States5, and it was about 29% of all Palantir revenue6. It then grew about 12.5% in 2022, 9.4% in 2023, 8.8% in 2024 and 2.5% in 20257.
It is paid in the same way as US commercial, largely as software subscriptions after pilots. The difference is conversion: the bootcamps that multiplied American revenue did not produce the same expansion abroad, for reasons Palantir has not disclosed.
Profitability is reported only for the commercial segment as a whole, whose contribution margin was 66% in 2025 and 78% in the second quarter of 202689. Whether the international part earns less is not disclosed, and it would be guesswork to say.
The outlook improved in 2026. After growth of 2.5% in 2025, the second quarter's 26%10 was a sharp improvement, and the first quarter was about $179.2 million11.
The line is not shrinking in dollars, and that matters for the verdict. International commercial revenue was larger in 2025 than in any earlier year12; what changed is that the American business grew around it. The concern is a stalled growth rate, not a failing customer base.
This is the weakest of the four lines and the one with most to prove. The verdict would change if growth held above 20% for all of 2026; another year in single digits would confirm that Palantir's commercial moat is American.
2.5% growth in 2025; 26% in Q2 2026.
Whether the selling method travels; single-digit growth again would mean the moat is American.
