A Record $2.1 Billion of US Commercial ContractsNarrow moat
Palantir Technologies (PLTR) — moat facet
American companies signed $2.1 billion of Palantir contracts in one quarter, nearly two-thirds of everything the company closed.
Contract signings show where the next revenue will come from, and in the second quarter of 2026 they came overwhelmingly from American companies. Palantir closed total contract value of $3.373 billion, up 49%, and US commercial contract value of $2.132 billion, up 153% and a record1. American business contracts were about 63% of all signings in the quarter2.
The deals are getting larger. Management described a multinational technology company that signed "a three-year contract worth nearly $370 million"3, the kind of commitment that until recently came only from governments.
Signings feed the forward pipeline. US commercial remaining deal value was $6,238 million, up 124% from a year earlier and 27% from the previous quarter4. Total remaining deal value was $13.1 billion5, so American business was about 48% of it6.
This matters for the moat because it shows customers committing years ahead. A buyer who signs a three-year contract after a bootcamp has decided the platform is part of its plan, not an experiment.
Keep an eye on US commercial remaining deal value. It grew faster than revenue in the second quarter; if it begins to grow more slowly than US commercial revenue, the pipeline is being consumed faster than it is refilled.
US commercial TCV +153%; remaining deal value +124%.
The forward pipeline in American business; growth below US commercial revenue growth would mean it is being drawn down.
