Four Customers, 55% of RevenueNarrow moat

Lam Research (LRCX) — moat facet

In fiscal 2026 four customers each took between 12% and 16% of Lam's revenue, a broad top four rather than one dominant buyer.

Lam's concentration in fiscal 2026 is broad rather than deep. Four customers each took at least 12% of revenue, 16%, 15%, 12% and 12%1, but none took more than a sixth. In fiscal 2021 one customer alone took 25%2, and in fiscal 2020 24%3.

Customers above 10% of revenue, FY2021 (%)Customer A25%Customer B12%Customer C10%Lam Research Form 10-K FY2021, major customers (unnamed)
In FY2021 one customer took a quarter.

That shape reflects who is spending. The 10-K names Micron, Samsung, SK hynix and TSMC as the most significant customers of the past three years4: three memory makers and a foundry. When memory and foundry spend at the same time, four customers cross the 10% line together, as in fiscal 2026.

A broad top four is safer than a single dominant buyer. A delay at one customer costs Lam 12% to 16% of revenue at most, and the others may be ramping at the same time.

It still leaves Lam dependent on four capital budgets for more than half its sales. The 10-K warns that "the actions of even one customer" may subject it to variability5, and a combined 55%6 is the second highest in the past six years7.

The receivables show the same breadth: five customers accounted for approximately 20%, 16%, 15%, 11% and 10% of accounts receivable at 28 June 20268. More customers are material to Lam's cash than to its revenue, because the timing of shipments at the end of a quarter differs by customer.

The year before looked different. In fiscal 2025 only two customers crossed 10%, at approximately 17% and 15% of revenue9, and in fiscal 2024 just one, at 17%10. The number of customers above the line is a measure of how many of the large chipmakers are spending at once.

The largest single share is the figure that would change the verdict. If one customer rises back above 25%, as in fiscal 2021, the concentration will have become deep as well as broad.

Moat trajectory: Holding steady

No customer above 16%; four above 12%.

Largest customer share of revenue, full year
About 16% (FY2026), from 17% in FY2025

How dependent Lam is on one buyer; a return above 25% would make the concentration deep as well as broad.
