✦ The Future BetsNarrow moat

Palo Alto Networks (PANW) — the future bets

Every one of Palo Alto's bets assumes that AI creates more security work than it removes.

Palo Alto's bets for the next few years are all versions of one idea: that artificial intelligence creates more security work than it removes. For fiscal 2027 the company guides to total revenue of $14.10 billion to $14.20 billion, growth of 23% to 24%, and NGS ARR of $11.075 billion to $11.175 billion1. Its long-term target is "$20 billion FY30 NGS ARR"2.

About 15% on a like-for-like base.

The four bets on these pages are the pieces that have to deliver. Idira, the CyberArk business, is guided to about $1.5 billion of revenue3, and is pitched at the identities of AI agents as well as people. XSIAM, the automated security operations product, ended fiscal 2026 above $700 million of ARR4. Prisma AIRS, which secures AI models and applications, passed $100 million of ARR within four quarters of general availability5. The $20 billion target ties them together.

Much of the growth guided for fiscal 2027 comes from a full year of CyberArk. Against pro forma fiscal 2026 revenue of $12,312 million6, the guidance implies growth of about 15%7.

Palo Alto beat its own guidance in fiscal 2026. It guided in February to revenue of $11.28 billion to $11.31 billion8 and reported $11,480 million9.

The guidance moved a long way in one year. In August 2025 it guided fiscal 2026 revenue to $10.475 billion to $10.525 billion and NGS ARR to $7.00 billion to $7.10 billion10, before either large acquisition. It finished at $11,480 million and $9.10 billion11, with the acquisitions accounting for much of the difference.

These bets are credible because they are sold to an installed base. The fiscal 2027 revenue guidance, $14.10 billion to $14.20 billion12, is the near-term test; a result below the range would say the bets are arriving more slowly than a company with this record usually promises.
