⚠ The Customer Count Went DarkLow threat
CrowdStrike (CRWD) — threat to the moat
CrowdStrike's last published customer count is 29,000, from January 2024.
CrowdStrike used to report its subscription customer count every year. It grew from 5,431 at January 2020 to 9,896, then 16,325 at January 20221, 23,019 at January 20232 and 29,000 at January 20243. The fiscal 2025 and fiscal 2026 reports give no figure.
Without the count, a reader cannot tell whether growth is coming from new customers or from existing ones spending more, which is the central question for a land-and-expand business. The latest release says the quarter brought "record net new ARR from new logos"4, but gives no number.
Revenue per customer, the one ratio the old count allowed, was about $105,000 in fiscal 20245.
The broader figure it now gives cannot fill the gap. More than 88,000 organisations at January 2026 includes the end customers of managed security service providers6, a different definition from the 29,000 subscription customers of the old series.
Silence is not evidence of decline, and the company may simply prefer ARR as its headline. The thing to watch is whether the count returns. A company adding customers quickly usually says so; if none is published by the fiscal 2027 report, assume new-customer growth is no longer a number management wants compared.
