Rival robots broke into Poland on financing terms, and the da Vinci still works in more than 70 hospitals to their handful.

The rival robots in Poland compete with the da Vinci, and therefore with Synektik, but Synektik cannot sell them. CMR Surgical's Versius arrived first: the Salve Medica centre in Łódź announced Poland's first Versius purchase on 23 August 20211. By the end of the first half of 2022 five Versius robots had appeared in Polish hospitals, while only two new sites began operating with the da Vinci2.

The da Vinci base is far larger.

The weapon was financing. The report that counted the robots said leasing, deferred payment and per-procedure settlement removed a one-off outlay of at least 10 million złoty, and predicted that more competition would force down prices of systems and after-sales service3. Medtronic's Hugo came next: first used clinically in Poland on 9 December 2024 and installed in four hospitals by October 20254.

The da Vinci has kept its lead. It works in more than 70 Polish hospitals5, and Synektik had 100 da Vinci systems under service in Poland at June 20266. Synektik also took the financing idea for itself: it was leasing seven systems at June 20267.

The four Hugo sites show where the rival is aiming. After Jastrzębie-Zdrój came the district hospital in Bolesławiec in March 2025, the National Institute of Oncology in Kraków in August 2025, where the system cost more than 17 million złoty, and the provincial hospital in Łomża in October 2025, financed by the National Recovery Plan8. Three of the four are regional hospitals rather than university clinics.

Four Hugo hospitals in the first year is a foothold; a dozen would make every tender a two-robot contest.

Hugo is new and small; Versius has not repeated its 2022 burst in the sources.
