The $15 billion backlog is a genuine strength¹, but it should be read with care: a backlog is a snapshot of committed demand at a moment in time, not an ironclad guarantee of future revenue. Orders can be delayed as customers re-phase multi-year projects, they can be restructured as designs change, and in some contract types they can be reduced or cancelled. More fundamentally, a backlog built during the most enthusiastic phase of an AI-capex boom reflects the cycle's high tide — it embodies the current pace of hyperscaler spending, which is extraordinary and may not persist at the same rate.

The concentration compounds the caution: the backlog rides on the same small number of giant buyers whose plans can shift, so it is not as diversified as its size might suggest. The very lumpiness that produced the second quarter of 2026 revenue timing miss — large, multi-phase projects whose delivery does not fall neatly into quarters — is a reminder that converting backlog into revenue is itself complex and uneven. None of this negates the backlog's value as evidence of committed demand and a source of visibility; it is genuinely impressive and de-risking. But it is a measure of demand at the top of a cycle, concentrated in a few customers, and subject to timing and re-phasing — a strong signal, not a certainty.
